1790 Census: Ballston, Albany Co (now Saratoga) w/2-2-4

1800 Census: Galway, Saratoga Co, w/wf, 1 son, 6 daughters

Will dated 20 June 1831: named only 6 children/heirs; others probably
died prior to that date: Fanny, Harriet, Thomas, Susan. From Daniel's
will, proved 7 July 1834 (MEMORIAL reg'd): ... last Will and Testament of
DANIEL GARNSEY late of Mountain ... 20 ... June 1831, wherein ... did
devise and bequeath ... that his wife Rachel Garnsey shall have a good
and comfortable maintenance out of my property in the way that she may
choose during her natural life, and after paying ... against my estate
and ... Samuel Garnsey the sum of Thirty-seven pounds ten shillings ...
and Anne Grant Twelve pounds ten shillings ... Rachel Pelton 12/10 ...

Litchfield county was not founded until 1751. ⁴

  Noted events in his life were:

• Immigration, 3 Sep 1794, Montreal, Québec, Canada. ⁵

• Relocation, Abt 1761, New York. ⁴ with his parents

• Relocation, Bef 1805. ⁴ "Tory", so moved from New York; took up land at South Mountain, Dundas
Co, ON, prior to 1805 when daughter Anna married Lewis Grant in South
Mountain. Family tradition states daughter was born on trip, so possibly
moved 1800. Sylvester's HIST OF SARATOGA CO w/ "... he swapped farms
with Nathan"; no proof of this or apparent reason, while a deed 27 May
1783, father John transfers 533 acres to Nathan5 for 2000 pounds.
Another tradition (authenticated) in 2 branches w/drowning of daughter
Fanny (on move to Canada) when sleigh broke through the ice of Lake
Champlain. Also tradition of land grant in Canada to Daniel; research
failed to prove that. Another source (Texas #1033 B.T. 25 Mar 1931)
w/Daniel settled by Nation River about 2 miles above South Mountain;
brought 2 slaves (buried in family plot, Old Garnsey Cemetery, South
Mountain).

Daniel married Rachel Jones about 1780.¹ (Rachel Jones was born on 9 Nov 1761 ¹ and died on 9 Jan 1834 in South Mountain, Ontario, Canada ¹.)
