“In June 1660 Marie was a victim of Huron renegades in quest of plunder on the Beaupre’ coast. Masquerading as Iroquois, they carried off Marie Caron, her daughter Louise and three other children in her care. The thieves were overtaken and surprised by the French and some Algonquins at Point-Levis, Marie and one of her charges were killed in the skirmish which followed. Little Louise escaped the massacre and was entrusted to her gtandfather, Pierre Picard. “ LaForrest vol 6
