John Longworth, 91 Years on Age, Dies in Nassau

John Longworth of Nassau, grandfather of Mrs. Grant Jacobson of Madison, died Sunday at the age of 91 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the home and Congregational church, Rev. Geo. L. Waite officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Augusta cemetery.

John Longworth was born in England January 10, 1848. He came to America with his parents when he was eight years old. He lived in Wisconsin until 1879, and then moved to Minnesota. For the last 58 years he has owned a farm in Walter township. During that time he also lived in California and Ortonville and for the past 9 years with his daughter, Mrs. A. Clausen, in Nassau.

He was married to Kate E. Russell July 31, 1873. To this union were born six children, all of whom are living. They are: Wallace Longworth of Nassau, Mrs. A.K. Doyle of Minneapolis, Mrs. A. Clausen of Nassau, Fred Longworth of Copperhill, Tennessee, Mrs. Nellie Putnam and Mrs. W.C. Conrad of Los Angeles. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. J.B. Grandine, of Argonne, Wis., a brother, Tom Longworth of Appleton, Wis., 23 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were six of his grandsons.

Out-of -town relatives attending the funeral were: Fred Longworth of Copperhill, Tenn., Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Doyle of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Scully of Emmettsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Ada Clift of Redwood Falls, Lucius Russell of Tamarack, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jensen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roehl, of Bellingham, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Longworth of Ortonville, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jacobson and J.B. Doyle, of Madison.

John Longworth owned the W1/2 of Sec. 32 bordering the city of Nassau on the west totaling 212.68 A. in Walter Twsp 119N. Range 46 W.

"Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kottke moved their household goods into the John Longworth house Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Longworth moved their household goods out to the Wallace Longworth farm where they expect to make their future home."
